a blog once named aerialove…
aerialove was initially my blog about love.
It began in January 2013, my journey to find an answer to the question “What is love?” My father had passed away towards the end of 2012 and I had recently just finished reading Jeanette Winterson’s Written on the Body and the idea of love (especially the idea of love after loss)–as interesting as it was–completely baffled me. So I thought I could write a blog just on my thoughts about love. I started by collecting quotes, music and video about love and discussing topics that came to mind, trying to compile some sort of definition or composite of what I understood love to be. I explored art and the world through my experiences while traveling in order to understand what love feels like, tastes like, smells like, and looks like. This blog was suppose to be an exploration, my own personal journey.
It turned out to be something so much more.
I started to understand myself and how I can put a little of what I love into my blog about love. After completely integrating my blog with my personal portfolio-type website (ariestrash.com), I started sharing my art, my crafts, my words. I started taking and sharing pictures of my trips and of my day. I was engaging in a more personal level. I began to love to blog about my life, share playlists I made with music I love. Scrapbooking and art journaling became a huge part of my creative life here as well. I began to put more of me into my blog, so now, it wasn’t solely about love, but about me.
And ariestrash was born.
